Blackmagic ATEM SDI Extreme ISO

This advanced live production system is designed for situations where a high number of SDI sources must be mixed with speed and reliability. Its compact design integrates a full control panel with professional broadcast features, making it suitable for studios, mobile production units and multi‑camera field operations. The unit provides eight SDI inputs, each supporting 10‑bit HD video with automatic re‑sync and dedicated frame rate and format conversion, allowing sources with different standards to be used seamlessly during live switching. 

The system incorporates a set of powerful real‑time processing tools that streamline complex productions. Its internal effects engine offers upstream keyers, downstream keyers and digital video effects that support borders and drop shadows, allowing the creation of layered compositions and picture‑in‑picture elements. It also includes pattern and colour generators that simplify the creation of graphics‑driven transitions. These creative tools operate with the precision required for live broadcasting, ensuring that transitions remain smooth and consistent throughout a production. 

Integrated audio capabilities bring professional sound control directly into the workflow. The Fairlight audio mixer provides eleven inputs with per‑channel dynamics, parametric equalisation, gating and limiting. Embedded SDI audio and external microphone sources can be balanced across the mix, giving operators the ability to refine levels, optimise clarity and manage multiple audio feeds without external equipment. This makes the system suitable for panel discussions, interviews, concerts and any environment where audio quality must remain consistent and broadcast ready. 

The ISO recording capability transforms the production process by generating separate recordings of all eight SDI inputs as individual H.264 video files. Alongside these isolated recordings, the system also captures the live program feed and automatically saves a DaVinci Resolve project file. This enables full reconstruction of the event in post production, with precise timing and source metadata already synchronised. The feature is particularly valuable for events that require detailed editing, multi‑angle recuts or long‑form archival. 

Connectivity extends to multiple outputs and expansion ports. Four SDI program outputs allow flexible routing to monitors, recorders or transmission systems. Ethernet connectivity supports control and direct streaming using the RTMP protocol, while dual USB‑C ports enable external drive recording and webcam‑style output for streaming platforms. These combined capabilities create a versatile and powerful production hub that fits easily into modern broadcast environments.
