Maar een stelling vraagt om bewijsmateriaal, een opdracht die evident niet perfect uit te voeren is. Dus is het allemaal netjes geordend in dit boek? Ik vrees van niet. Is het een persoonlijk verhaal? Ja, dat zeker. Is het een academisch betoog? Dat ook, bij momenten, waar de onvermijdelijke entropie en het nefaste micromanagement ter sprake komen. Maar je krijgt ook een geleid bezoek aan de bibliotheek van Babel aangeboden, een zot verhaal over oneindigheid, een persoonlijk gekleurde reflectie over wolken en een boeiende saga van het schilderen van een garagevloer. Vloer klaar, boek klaar, dat was het idee, bijna, net niet. Wat te bewijzen viel.
