The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace werd in opdracht van de Royal Armouries geschreven om de overgang van het ene millennium naar het andere te markeren. De muziek reflecteert op het verstrijken van ‘de meest door oorlog verscheurde en destructieve eeuw in de menselijke geschiedenis’ en kijkt hoopvol uit naar een vreedzamere toekomst. The Armed Man is opgedragen aan de slachtoffers van het Kosovo-conflict, waarvan de tragedie zich ontvouwde terwijl het stuk werd gecomponeerd. Het werd voor het eerst uitgevoerd in 2000 door het London Philharmonic Orchestra en het National Youth Choir of Great Britain, onder leiding van Jenkins zelf. Een raamwerk voor het werk is de traditionele katholieke mis, maar de teksten zijn afkomstig uit allerlei delen van de wereld en uit verschillende religies en culturen. I used to buy this regularly a couple of years ago, but stopped buying because of the price. Then I bought it again, because I haven't found any other SPF lip glosses or balms that don't irritate my lips. Unfortunately, I don't know if they have changed the formulation or what, but now I'm getting irritated lips from this one too. I love the shade and the feel of it, but the whole reason why I use it is for the sun protection. I just don't know why SPF always seems to irritate my lips. I was hoping this one, being at a higher price point and a good brand would be the one that doesn't. But the hunt is still on.
