In Animal Genius daag je je kennis van dieren uit in 140 rondes met diverse spelmodes. Het doel is de 5 verschillende habitats te vullen met leden van het dierenrijk. Reis van het regenwoud naar antarctica tot de savannes. Om dieren in hun habitat te terug te laten keren moet je punten verzamelen. Die punten haal je in de verschillende spelletjes: navigeer door doolhoven met clownvissen, benoem de dieren, zoek de 9 gelijke diersoorten, herken dieren hun vacht, snuit, pootafdruk, en vel.
Uiteindelijk ben je aan de ultieme proef toe waar je 10 vragen over de dieren moet beantwoorden. Pas nadat je de dieren kent, kan je ze toevoegen aan hun habitat.
