Deze koeler is van het zilverhuis Ercuis. De oorsprong van Ercuis gaat terug tot 1867, toen Adrien Céleste Pillon een zilversmederij opende in het kleine dorpje Ercuis, gelegen in het Franse departement Oise. Zijn doel was destijds niet om een imperium van hoogwaardig zilverwerk op te bouwen, maar om zijn medeburgers op religieus vlak te versterken en tegelijkertijd de economische toekomst van zijn geboorteplaats te verzekeren.
