De Thommen Ride 125, ook wel de 4WD genoemd, is de universele windsurfer: een board dat alle condities aankan. Thommen bouwde jarenlang custom boards, en Peter Thommen en Mark Thoms ontwikkelden een shape die bij veel windsurfers in de smaak viel. Om meer mensen ervan te laten genieten, wordt de Ride nu op de best mogelijke manier geproduceerd bij Cobra in Thailand.

Shape en gedrag

De Ride heeft een verlengde rockerlijn met een vee-to-quad-to-tri-concave bodem om snel aan te planeren. Een kleine tail kick, dunnere rails en cut-outs maken het board ook bij meer wind makkelijk controleerbaar. Afhankelijk van het volume trek je er moeiteloos grote zeilen mee op, terwijl de Ride met kleinere zeilen juist heel goed controleerbaar blijft.

Constructie: LTD

De LTD is Cobra's speciaal ontwikkelde constructie: lichtgewicht en extra stijf.

Vinnen en uitrusting

De Ride komt standaard met een 30 cm powerbox-vin achter en 12 cm slotbox-vinnen aan de zijkant. Door de thruster-setup is het board ook zeer geschikt voor ondiep water. Hij wordt compleet geleverd met drie vinnen, voetbanden en een boardbag, dat bespaart bovendien plastic bij het verschepen.

Voor windsurfers die een veelzijdig board willen dat in alle condities meekan, van lichte wind tot stevig doorvaren. Minder geschikt als je puur op lichtweer-glij gaat, kijk dan naar de Glide.
