The Free Peoples—comprising Elves, Dwarves, and Men—have formed a tenuous alliance to defend the Lonely Mountain and its treasure from the relentless onslaught of the Necromancer’s minions. Led by Bolg, son of Azog, the Shadow Armies are set to launch a devastating assault on the ruins of Dale and the Front Gate.
Will the Goblins breach the mountain and launch a two-pronged attack to overwhelm the defenders? Can the arrival of Beorn, the powerful skin-changer, shift the balance in favor of the Free Peoples? Will the majestic Eagles arrive in time to halt the Goblin advance?
In The Battle of Five Armies, one player commands the Shadow Armies under Bolg’s leadership, while the other controls the Free Peoples—Men, Dwarves, and Elves, guided by Gandalf. Based on the acclaimed mechanics from the War of the Ring board game, this game features action dice and event cards, ensuring each playthrough is unique. The addition of the "Fate Track" mechanic introduces new layers of strategy, managing the arrival of allies and triggering special events.
Key characters like Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin, Dain, the Elven King, Bard, Beorn, and Bolg are all represented with powerful special abilities and detailed miniatures, enhancing the immersive experience.
