Staunton Chess Set with a very traditional look, superb quality and complete with a luxury storage box.
Luxury Competition Staunton chess pieces, crafted from solid boxwood and ebonised boxwood. The attention to detail is staggering. The knights feature distinctive, aggressive features with a well-defined mane and flared nostrils. Beautifully weighted and balanced, the pieces are presented in a handmade, solid sheesham chess piece case, which is lined inside with green flock. Polished with natural waxes, the case is a work of art on its own.
The chess board is moderately large at 53 cm square. Made from sustainable mahogany and maple in Europe, it provides the perfect platform to display these wonderful chessmen.
We have sourced the various parts for this chess set from two key chess suppliers. Firstly, the board comes from the world's largest, and arguably the best, producer of chessboards in Spain, Rechapados Ferrer. We opted for the Spanish version to ensure that this set maintains the highest precision and quality. The pieces and box come from one of our favourite producers of high-quality chessmen. A classic Staunton set, nicely weighted and very solid. They are the perfect complement for the mahogany chessboard.
Please note that the box included in this lovely set is now supplied with the new and improved hidden magnetic closing mechanism and not with the brass clasps as seen. It is also supplied without the divider.
