Teac Tascam Portastudio 244 80's 4 Track Multitrack Cassette Tape Recorder - 100V

The best way to add some nice analogue, grainy and warm vintage sound to your recordings. At the time the 244 was one of the best multitrack recorders you could get your hands on.

The 244 is basically a 4-channel cassette recorder with DBX noise reduction processors and 4-channel mixer in one portable package. The outer casing is a dark grey plastic two-part moulding, enclosing a rigid metal frame that supports the VU meters, circuitry panels, knobs, switches and cassette mechanics. The left hand mixer section has smart colour coded knobs and both sliders and switches are quiet and smooth in operation. The VU meters are scaled from -20dB to +3dB, with all connection sockets and secured mains cable located behind these on the rear panel. Sockets are all RCA phono types except for the four input jacks and remote punch in/out jack which are standard mono. The right hand cassette section incorporates a 3-motor transport system with FG servo-controlled DC Capstan motor, DC reel motor and (unique to Tascam) a DC control motor that gently moves the head assembly in and out of the tape path. (muzines)

Notable users of the Tascam Portastudios series include Four Tet, Mac DeMarco, Autechre, Tom Waits, Luke Prichard, Bootsy Collins, Wu-Tang Clan, Lou Reed, Aztec Camera’s Roddy Frame. and Lady Gaga.

Great Story about Native Americans before Europeans
Format: Paperback
I read this book with my kids (11,8) as part of our unit on Native Americans before colonization. They both really enjoyed it. It helped to humanize history for them and show them that although the cultural practices were different, the characters experienced some of the same feelings, relationship challenges, and personal struggles and triumphs that we experience today.

Wonderful book about pre-European North America
Format: Paperback
This is a great book. There's a massive shortage of children's books written by Natives, especially ones that give a picture of pre-European America, and if you've noticed that, THIS IS THE BOOK YOU'RE LOOKING FOR to fill that hole in your home school curriculum/child's library. It's a "boy book," but my seven year old girl got through it without any complaints except that she wanted me to read ahead so I could tell her if anything scary happened. I would say that the plot is a little slow, the main story pauses a lot for background information or traditional stories. But that's not really a complaint, I don't think it's even worth taking off one star. Almost anything by Joseph Bruchac is worth your money, and this one is no exception.

Great book!
Format: Hardcover
My kids love this book. It's not a super long book but long enough to give a fun storyline. Puts a fun spin on cupid.
