Wat een waanzinnige maple top op deze PRS Custom 24 Piezo!

Met de welbekende Custom 24 als basis, pakt deze PRS Custom 24 Cobalt Smokeburst nog eens extra uit met de toevoeging van een LR Baggs Piezo systeem. Hiermee kun je, naast de fantastische elektrische sounds van PRS, ook nog eens een zeer overtuigend (en bruikbaar!) pallet aan akoestische sounds uit de gitaar halen. De Pattern Thin hals voelt lekker aan, en is net wat slanker dan de Pattern Regular halzen. De gitaar is uitgerust met twee outputs, zodat je er voor kunt kiezen om de Piezo naar een aparte amp/soundboard te sturen, of om een gemixt output signaal te pakken. Dankzij de Blend knop en de 3-way switch is het gemakkelijk om een goede balans te vinden tussen elektrisch en akoestisch. De piezo is ook uit te schakelen, zodat je ook de traditionele Custom 24 sounds kunt gebruiken! Ook de Magnetische pickups hebben een flinke upgrade gehad in de vorm van TCI. Inclusief koffer.

Wat is TCI?

TCI is een afkorting voor Tuned Capacitance and Inductance treatment. Deze manier van pickups finetunen is ontstaan tijdens het design proces van de Silver Sky, in samenwerking met John Mayer. Zowel Paul Reed Smith als John Mayer waren geobsedeerd om de Stratocaster single coils uit de jaren '63 tot '65 zo accuraat mogelijk na te bootsen, met precies de juiste balans tussen hoge en lage tonen. Wanneer een pickup wordt gewonden, zijn de spoelen tegelijkertijd ook condensatoren (capacitance), weerstanden en inductoren (inductance). Tot nog toe waren deze drie elementen niet los van elkaar te beïnvloeden, maar Paul Reed Smith heeft de code gekraakt om deze factoren te isoleren en precies op elkaar af te stemmen. Dankzij de TCI treatment zijn de pickups nu nóg beter afgestemd op de gitaar om zo het puurste gitaargeluid tot nu toe te produceren. TCI is dan ook meer dan alleen een nieuw soort pick-up, het is een geheel innovatief proces. Dat proces wordt nu toegepast op alle PRS-pickups die worden aangeboden in de Core-lijn, met uitzondering van enkele Signature-modellen.

For anyone interested in this product, here’s a quick guide (from a coffee snob) • 12oz (what I got, pictured) - fine for small drinks (standard mug) at home. one drink, and you never plan on using this for any larger drinks • 20oz - the home kitchen sweet spot. if you’re filling a Stanley or Yeti traveler this is probably your size. One caveat, you’ll have no wiggle room and will be maxing your milk froth to the brim. if you like cappuccino’s get the 32oz. • 32oz - this is what’s behind the counter at every coffee shop you’ve ever been to. if you’ve worked a bar shift at Starbucks you’ve held this pitcher a thousand times. If you like a lot of foam (cappuccinos) i would suggest anyone serious about at home use to get this one. I’ve worked in coffee shops since I was like 16 and I still ordered the 12oz like a complete idiot. I posted comparison photos if you want a good laugh. The pitcher is smaller than a regular coffee mug. Not a travel mug, not a big mug, just a normal everyday mug. Bigger than the pitcher. I measured nothing and paid the price. Returning it and ordering the 32oz of the same exact pitcher so that should tell you the quality is legit. Feels exactly like what we used behind the bar, well made, solid, nothing cheap about it. Just bought the wrong size. For anyone also about to make my mistake: the 12oz works if you’re making one small drink at home and that’s it. The 20oz is probably the right call for most people, fills a Stanley or Yeti no problem. The 32oz is the coffee shop size, if you’ve ever worked a bar at Starbucks or anywhere else you’ve used that size a thousand times and it’ll feel right immediately. Great pitcher. Wrong size.
