Assembly & Loading Instructions
Loading a fresh filament refill onto your master spool takes less than a minute. Follow these simple steps to ensure a perfect seat:
- Locate & Align: Find the small physical locator block on the inner barrel of the Wide Piece. Align this block precisely with the corresponding notch stamped on the inner core ring of your new filament refill roll, then slide the wide piece into the roll.
- Insert & Press: Take the Narrow Piece and insert it from the opposite side. Align the interlocking internal grooves of both pieces, pushing them firmly together until they are flush.
- Twist to Lock: Grip both halves securely, rotate the narrow piece clockwise relative to the wide piece until it slides cleanly into its track and you hear a distinct, physical click lock.
- Shim & Strip: Ensure the spacing shims are properly nested inside the spool configuration (retained right under the alignment triangle). Once the structure is completely locked, you can safely tear apart and pull away the temporary external plastic retention binding strips.
Real-World Maker Tips
- The "No Mid-Roll Swapping" Rule: This reusable spool is engineered to host a single refill ring from start to finish. Do NOT attempt to disassemble the spool or swap filament colors before a roll has been completely consumed. Opening the spool early releases the wound kinetic tension, causing the filament loop to instantly unravel, bird-nest, and become permanently tangled. If you want to run multiple active refill colors concurrently, ensure you stock up on multiple master spools.
- How RFID Tracking Works: You don't lose automatic material detection by switching to refills.
