HOW IT WORKS

Spirulina has been used traditionally as food for its nutritional values dating back to the 16th century.

WHY OUR SPIRULINA?

Our spirulina algae grows in sunny southern California, away from the cities and polluted air. And while some algae products on the market are contaminated with cyanobacterial toxins, our partner cultures spirulina in alkaline water with a pH of 10+ to prevent toxic algae.
We examine the spirulina with technological and analytical tools to ensure that no toxins or contaminants are present. Nature’s Sunshine Spirulina is green and clean… It’s non-GMO project verified, gluten-free, Kosher- and Halal-certified and free from preservatives and dyes.

THE STORY BEHIND SPIRULINA

This colorful “sea-food” was used for centuries anciently. According to records, the Aztecs scooped up this algae into their boats. And Aztec messengers may have eaten it on their long runs. In the 16th century, Spanish invaders discovered that the Aztecs in the Valley of Mexico were collecting matter or techuitlatl, from the blue lagoons and drying it into “cakes.”
Fast forward to 1940, when the Kanembu people of Northern Africa were seen harvesting spirulina along the shores of Lake Chad. In the late 1960s, spirulina started getting noticed for its bright color and amazing nutritional content. The following decade, researchers began examining it as a possible source of inexpensive protein.
Today this powerhouse of nutrition grows in nearly two dozen countries and is consumed in more than 70 nations across the globe.

....limited information about how the average person...
Format: Kindle
Coverage of the earliest period does (of necessity through lack of records?) encompass rather a lot of conjecture and assumptions. There's certainly a good coverage of the period - but it can become rather dry as it cycles through successive rulers. There's limited information about how the average person lived during the time covered. Tended to skim past extended descriptions of fairy tales of ancient beliefs and convictions. The book occasionally reverts to mentions of much later personalities (such as Freud) and comparing them to characters of ancient China!

Not worth the paper it’s printed on.
Format: Paperback
I can’t say that I was expecting such a slim volume on 10,000 years of Chinese culture to be a work of rigorous scholarship, but I also wasn’t expecting it to be quite *this* dreadful. It is badly written to the point of being unreadable, and it is clear that no one thought to edit the document before publication. I made it about twenty pages in before I had to put it down. The entire thing reads like an Anthropology 101 term paper written by a first semester college freshman who hasn’t quite figured out how to back up claims with evidence yet.
