UPGRADE YOUR TIGUAN

IE's cold air intake system takes your unassuming SUV and turns it into a fun a sporty driver’s car. Uniquely engineered with true motorsport racing design features and industry-leading design software, the result is a true performance intake system that brings sophisticated sound and power to your 2.0T Gen 3 Tiguan.

MORE AIR = MORE FUN

Demanding more power and sound from a turbo engine requires more airflow in return. The factory airbox is manufactured to dampen all engine noise which means adding power-killing flow restrictions. Upgrading your VW Tiguan's EA888 gen 3 2.0L turbocharged engine with an IE Cold Air Intake completely removes all factory flow restrictions allowing your turbo and engine to breathe free and make unrestricted power!

FLOW RESULTS

To deliver the most performance from your investment, IE's engineers have thrown out the factory intake box and small plastic piping designs in favor of flow-optimized and true motorsport design features. Utilizing advanced engineering techniques and industry-leading manufacturing processes, your new intake design utilizes full advantage of all available space for a full-width ram air inlet, 5" air filter, and integrate velocity stack to maximize airflow. This optimized design results in +16 CFM at -30IN/H20 increase in flow over stock!

TAILORED FIT

Designing a truly maximized intake design is limited mainly by the constraints of the factory engine bay. To completely utilize all available space, 3D scans were taken of the engine bay, front bumper, hood, and the entire front clip building an exact digital replica to work in. The result is a beautifully crafted aftermarket intake design that sits perfectly in place at looks entirely at home in the factory engine bay.

BUILT-IN VELOCITY STACK

The built-in velocity stack is a true motorsport design feature like that used in professional motorsport racing. The bellmouth shape is incredibly efficient at channeling the mass amounts of airflow coming through the 5" air filter's surface area and smoothly transferring it down to the intake piping with very low amounts of drag or power-robbing turbulence.

FULL-WIDTH RAM AIR SCOOP

The majority of our intake is an aluminum alloy heat shield that spans the entire length of the front clip. This feature takes advantage of outside high-pressure air getting shoved through the front grill and channels this fresh air directly to the integrated velocity stack and air filter while effectively sealing off hot engine bay air.

INSTALLATION

Install your new intake kit without any permanent modifications or installation hassles. The install process is straightforward and can be done with basic tools.

HOW DOES IT SOUND?

From the outside, your Tiguan may look like a luxury cross-over, but underneath that shell, it contains the same MQB platform and 2.0L turbocharged EA888.3 powerplant as the popular MK7 GTI. Adding the IE intake system unleashes the same exciting turbo spool, engine note, and turbo relief sounds found on the sporty Golf. These sounds unique to our velocity stack intake design will make you feel like you’re carving canyons in a hot hatch. Guaranteed to put an instant smile on your face every time you lay into the throttle.

This intake has been obsessively engineered to deliver a quality finish, effortless install process, maximized performance, addictive sound, reliability, and above all -fun. We believe this design excels on all marks as the ultimate intake solution for your SUV.

Caveats for the professional tracker
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
This is a most excellent resource, arguably the best single tracking book that exists (i would argue so, if i had to pick one! And i recommend this book often). However, if you are in a professional field where this legally matters (EIS or ESA decisions on wolverine/fisher/lynx, etc.), take heed: the authors’ methods of measuring tracks are confusing (i.e. - where is the line between substrate/mammal family to determine when claws or ‘posterior’ pads are or are not used in measuring tracks? ) Also, the claim that “an individual animal can show incredible variation in track size” (p.57) is very misleading… Foot size of an individual animal from birth to adult will obviously change, but will not change in a day for the same-aged individual animal regardless of whether it walks in mud or atop rock. The animal’s foot does not change in size, but its track might appear to. This perceived “change” could be easily avoided by using minimum outline measurements (which are not discussed in this book, but can be found in the work by J. Halfpenny and others). I understand their reasons, but please do not refer to this book for legally defensible measuring techniques of rare species!!!! Also please disregard the negative reviewer who said “it’s a very Mythological Approach to how animals move and walk (jsopel),”- they clearly don’t know what that word means… All in all a well-researched and fantastic book that comes from ample and legitimate experience. A great book and happy tracking!

Good but index needs improvement
Format: Paperback
This is a good, comprehensive guide to tracks and sign. However, there is no index of where to find each family, so in order to find a species you have to flip through the entire book looking for the right page. This makes it annoying to use if you are trying to look up information on a particular species or family.

This is a very useful field manual for those interested in detailed traking methodology.
Format: Paperback
I spent many years as interpreter and ranger for the Colorado State Park System, now called CPW—Colorado Parks and Wildlife. We were annually tasked with surveying a given species' presence, density, and range in the park system and surrounding areas. Detailed field manuals were critical to the accuracy of our work, and HOW I WISH I HAD THIS BOOK DURING THAT PART OF MY CAREER. There are few other books I've come across providing detailed, yet very accessible information on how trail sign reflects animal behavior across different conditions, landscapes, and seasons (both weather seasons and mating seasons). One particular aspect of this book I found significantly intriguing was the section on predation—how does a mountain lion take down a mule deer vs. how wolves bring one down. The locations on a prey animal where a certain predator is most likely to attack, showing illustrations, is a remarkable piece of work, and there authors are clearly masters of interpreting tracks and sign! If you want learn about how mammals behave in their native environment, adding this book to your field manual packet will greatly expand your horizons! Busy it, read it, and get outside! Thank you Mr. Elbroch and Mr. McFarland for adding to the wildlife canon!

Great book and very useful tool to have
Format: Paperback
I had the older edition and lived it, but someone at my last job *borrowed* it and I never saw it again. This edition sends even better than the last, and I have that one five stars. Great pictures and the number of species covered means it's good in at least all states I've worked in.
