The JYRO JFX 2 is the crossbraced canopy for pilots who want to step into serious performance without losing the practical, confidence-building behaviour that makes a wing enjoyable every weekend. Think crossbraced power with a friendlier transition than the truly hyper-performance end of the range.
JFX 2 keeps the reliable soul of the original JFX and adds modern JYRO features: Powerband nose shaping, mini-ribs, sail-loaded ribs and updated aerodynamic refinement. It is playful, powerful and polished — a canopy that can start your swooping journey, carry you through team jumps or camera work, and still give you landings with a big smile attached.
Who it is for
- Experienced 9-cell elliptical pilots ready for their first crossbraced canopy with coaching.
- Weekend warriors who want high performance without jumping straight to Leia or Petra.
- Team and camera flyers who need reliable openings plus strong landing performance.
- Pilots who value predictable behaviour while learning bigger rotations and more advanced approaches.
Flight character
JFX 2 openings are one of its calling cards: soft, predictable and much less intimidating than old crossbraced stereotypes suggest. Harness inputs are light and instinctive, toggles are powerful through the bottom end, and rear risers are trustworthy with good warning before the stall. Front risers give strong feedback and an effective path into the dive.
The dive is longer than the original JFX but not as long as Leia. Recovery is slow, predictable and adjustable, making the wing well suited to pilots building consistency. Flare power is immense, with more range and slower flight than the original JFX.
Design features
- Powerband leading edge controls top-surface shape where the majority of lift is generated.
- Minibrid construction uses sail fabric in loaded ribs to reduce distortion and increase stability and responsiveness.
- Mini-ribs reduce trailing-edge drag and improve glide and flare.
- Crossbraced structure increases power and reduces drag while keeping openings manageable.
- Closed centre chamber nose supports soft openings and aerodynamic control.
- High-performance line options include Vectran choices suited to drag and maintenance preferences.
Options and suitability
SkydiveShop currently lists sizes 69–104 with an optional RDS slider configuration. JYRO lists the broader JFX 2 size range as 69–119 and recommends wing loading around 1.6–2.2. This is an advanced canopy; confirm readiness, wing loading and coaching plan before ordering.
Transition notes
The JFX 2 is often attractive because it makes the crossbraced transition feel less intimidating, but “less intimidating” does not mean beginner-friendly. It is still a high-performance crossbraced wing with more speed, more dive and more energy than a non-crossbraced elliptical. The right pilot will enjoy how predictable it is; the wrong pilot will simply be behind the canopy.
Loaded lightly, the JFX 2 can be a powerful teaching platform for advanced canopy skills under supervision. Loaded higher, it becomes a serious swoop wing with enough range for big turns, long rears and fast, committed landings.
Options and ordering notes
The RDS slider option should match your experience, landing goals and maintenance habits. If you are buying JFX 2 as your first crossbraced canopy, work with a canopy coach on size, wing loading, turn progression and whether an RDS makes sense now or later. Pack-volume guidance is approximate, so confirm fit with a rigger before changing canopy model or size.
Before you order
Canopy descriptions are useful, but they do not replace a real suitability check. Your exit weight, currency, landing area, container compatibility, previous canopy history and coaching plan all matter. If you are between sizes or moving into a new performance class, get confirmation from a qualified canopy coach or rigger before placing the order. That keeps the purchase aligned with how you actually fly, not just how good the spec sheet looks.
