The Sound Lab Electrostat

Cutting-edge electrostatic technology, delivering unparalleled clarity, detail, bass extension, and precision across the entire audio spectrum.

Design

To reproduce music as it was performed, Sound Lab full range electrostats achieve an effortless delicacy to fill a room with sound .

All models are designed and constructed the same:

One membrane. No cross-over. No box. Simplicity.

The difference is in size. Explore the many new designs available to allow for matching the size and aesthetics of your space.

For the true music lover and audio aficionado seeking the ultimate experience, the Sound Lab loudspeaker will exceed expectations and ignite passion like never before.

Refined Technology

The theory of electrostatically produced sound has been around for over 100 years. Nobody has questioned the theory, but all have waited for the advent of materials to allow the reliable performance of these speakers and for engineers and designers to find solutions for electrostatic specific challenges. Only since the early 2000’s have there have been suitable insulation materials, ultra thin pvc ‘mylar’ materials, super adhesives, CNC construction with enough precision and ultra rigid plastics suitable for constructing these speakers.

For 45 years Sound Lab has quietly taken step after step improving performance and now implements proprietary technology for distributed bass dispersion and bass focus, faceted flat cells arranged to give 45 or 90 degrees of dispersion and new generations of torroid transformers to handle any audio signal.

Seamlessly blends into any living space to disappear when the music plays, providing a sound stage deep across your space.

Capturing and utilizing the benefits of acoustical line-source technology

Details

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these electrostatic speakers offer a transformative listening journey that transcends conventional boundaries.

When incorporating any large structure into a room the visual details are, of course, an important consideration. Any Sound Lab pair of speakers will significantly impact a room and though excellence of sound quality is our primary goal, we have also found beauty in the form which serves our purpose. We have three different and distinctive design approaches for framing our electrostatic panels, all beautiful in their own way and each are also very much customizable.

Frame

Fabric

The three designs have long been referred to as Majestic, Audiophile, and Ultimate.

Wood

Majestic and Audiophile are both statements made of beautiful wood. The Majestic is the more modern and less imposing design with a subtle wooden frame and the Audiophile is, on the other hand, a beautiful expression of woodworking to boldly frame the sound panels and become a statement adding to the tone and décor of your room.

Metal

The Ultimate is a design of modern industrial flavor and made of tubular steel presenting an image of strength and stability and although the most often chosen color is black steel, the steel may be painted in any Pantone color to match or contrast their surroundings.

Outer framing materials (since 2006) are intended only to suspend and direct the inner electrostatic panels and to have no bearing on the sound quality or panel performance. Inner panels are interlocking ABS CNC machined, inert, resonance free and impervious to environmental conditions including humidity.

The woods used for both Majestic and Audiophile frameworks may be chosen from several hard woods the most common being oak, maple, walnut or cherry. The wood frames may be finished in a variety of finishes or they may also be painted any color.

Grille Fabric

Covering the large panel surface is the material grille fabric – besides the elegant and traditional black, there are more than 40 beautiful and acoustically transparent fabrics to choose from.

If choosing a size configuration for your panels is the first step, the next steps are to choose and customize the visual appearance of your panels so that they may enhance and become a prized addition to your living/ listening space.

Configuration & Build

All Sound Lab full-range panels follow one core design, available in different frame sizes for various height and width options. Every model uses the same high-quality materials, construction, and electronics—there are no lower-cost versions or compromises. Each speaker is built to the highest standard possible.

Configuration Options: Panel Sizes

Check our configuration table to explore panel options, sorted from largest to smallest by radiating surface area—not just height. This measurement, based on both height and width, determines each panel’s sound energy performance. Use this as a guide to find the best fit for your space. See below for more details.

One Membrane & Radiating Area

Sound Lab full-range electrostats are large because their electrostatic membranes move less air than other speaker technologies. To achieve the expected sound levels, we increase the radiating surface area instead of using multiple drivers or alternative technologies, as we believe a single-membrane design offers the best performance.

Since all models share the same design and only differ in membrane size, their energy output depends on how much air they move. Larger panels with more radiating surface area produce more energy. When choosing a panel, consider both height and width, as the total radiating area—not just one dimension—determines performance.

The model names are given first with the following nomenclature: GX-YC where:

G: full-range

X: approximate height

Y: number of cells to give relative indication of width (all cells are same width)

C: cell

Sound Differences Between Panels

The simple rule for sound performance: the largest panel that fits properly in your space will deliver the most effortless sound. We recommend discussing options with us or your dealer—and most importantly, listening for yourself.

Think of it like this: driving at 50 km/h in a Rolls Royce versus a compact car feels very different. But if you live in a French Riviera apartment with narrow cobblestone streets, a Rolls Royce may not be the best fit. Similarly, squeezing our largest panel into a small room isn’t ideal. Instead, a smaller model can create an intimate, immersive listening experience.

Choosing the right configuration is about balance. That’s why we offer a variety of designs to match nearly any room size. We’re also open to special requests.

My dogs favorite!
My dogs love these! They will play all day if you'd let them, these balls are their favorites. I use the chuck-it handle and they get tons of exercise in the big yard!

The Dog LOVES IT!
I bought this for my ex-wife's Pitbull. He is an aggressive chewer and usually destroys any toy I buy him. But not this one! The ball is small enough and pliable that it gives when he chomps on it. He loves this ball and seems to be his favorite toy. Thank you for making a product that he likes and can't destroy!

My Golden Retriever’s favorite
We’ve owned lots of toys and balls. This specific version (in blue) has been her absolute favorite. She’s about 72lbs and chews on this thing regularly with no visible damage. We actually own about 6 of them because they have a tendency to go missing underneath furniture and in the yard. We have two of the orange colored ones but she doesn’t like those nearly as much which I assume is because the blue is easier to see in the grass. Other than that…They bounce really well and also whistle a little when you throw them hard enough. I hope they never stop making these.

doesn't whistle as loud as other chuckit balls I've seen, but a good ball.
makes some noise, but I've seen (and played with) others at the dog park that whistle much louder than the 1 I got. all Chuckit balls... so, just this one I'm betting. but it flys good and the dog loves to chase it. he chews it a fair bit as well and the ball has not taken much damage from him (lab mix) or others that have had a go at it. I'll likely buy another at some point ... just wish it was a little louder when flying.

Blue ball, my dog likes blue.
Just a ball right? Evidently not! My dog won’t chase an orange chuck it ball or the glow in the dark ball- only the blue one 🤷🏼‍♀️
