The unusual juxtaposition of the glass mirrored architecture of Doug Aitken's “MIRAGE”, representative of a ranch-styled American suburban home, it responds to the arid desert landscape around it.
This was an art installation for Desert X back in 2017 by Doug Aitken. I accidentally snuck in as the exhibit had just closed the weekend prior, so I was lucky to have no other tourists around crowding my shots. Desert X is always inspiring to shoot, and this was my first experience. The way the house blends in with the desert is just so perfect and striking. Shortly after snapping this, the house was dismantled and moved to Switzerland, but heard it was taken down in February of 2021.
