How do people with good intentions make young people understand the importance of respecting authority figures like police and principals? Use the lessons in our Violence and Conflict book to introduce effective conflict resolution strategies for youth at risk. These lessons focus on critical decision-making, dealing with violent acts, police confrontation, violence in the media, the nonviolent code, and getting along with authority figures.
This evidence based material consists of life skills for high school at risk youth in juvenile detention, after school programs, secure juvenile faculties, community based organizations, homeless shelters, and in organizations that are alternatives to incarceration. By teaching conflict resolution strategies for youth, educators can provide practical alternatives to aggression in high-stress environments.
The 130-page Instructor’s Manual contains teaching guidelines for all life skills activities and lessons, 52 pages of activities, and specific modules dedicated to conflict resolution strategies for youth. It also includes 3 section quizzes, 2 assessment pages, answer keys, 4 short stories, and 3 inspirational biographies to ensure students stay engaged while learning how to navigate disagreements peacefully.
