German WWII DRK Red Cross Hewer-This iconic DRK Hewer is in “as found” condition and would make a great placeholder or a nice piece for the new collector until they can upgrade. The matte nickel silver plated fittings are 85% intact and are nicely toned. The obverse of the cross guard bears a handsome oval medallion topped by a DRK style broad winged eagle. The black bakelite grip plates are very good. One side is checkered, and the other side plain, just as they should be. The scabbard’s black finish is approx. 40% remains in place. The steel has a light rust coat, so please be sure to see photos. The fittings are toned. The silver finish remains mostly in place but there are spots of rust throughout. The thick brown leather buffer remains in place under the crossguard. The blade is in good condition, though it does show some spot of darkening on both the obverse and the reverse. We have not attempted to clean this. The blade is marked with ges. Geschützt under the reverse crossguard medallion. This has a handmade or jury-rigged frog that is made of brown leather. An affordable starter piece.
