This 1976 tribute to Lucille Ball captures prize moments from her three television series (most notably I Love Lucy), highlights from her movie career, and excerpts from numerous other TV appearances.

Known as the funniest woman in television history, Lucille Ball was one of a kind. With her outlandish schemes and deadpan zingers, the red-headed actress became legendary, and with her TV shows in wide syndication for years, loved for generations around the world. For good reason, CBS adored Lucy and in 1976 gathered the cast members and many guest stars to participate in a very special television celebration of Lucy's amazing TV life--"CBS Salutes Lucy: The First 25 Years."

Guest stars includeDesi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, Gale Gordon, Jimmy Stewart, Richard Burton, John Wayne, Milton Berle, Johnny Carson, George Burns, Sammy Davis Jr., Dick Van Dyke, William Holden, Bob Hope, Harpo Marx, Dean Martin, Red Skelton and more.

Beginning at the beginning, ex-husband Desi Arnaz and Vivian Vance introduce highlights from "I Love Lucy'' (which premiered in 1951). They include Lucy getting tipsy by drinking 'Vitameata Vegamin,'' breaking the news of her pregnancy, making a shambles of a chocolate-factory assembly line, and spoofing operetta as the toothless 'Queen of the Gypsies.'

Disguise and surprise are elements in sketches with Milton Berle, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Dean Martin and Richard Burton.

Song-and-dance segments show Lucy performing with such stars as Carol Burnett, Danny Thomas, Red Skelton, Eddie Albert and George Burns

Also: a 'Tonight Show' takeoff with Johnny Carson; a barroom brawl with John Wayne; a pantomime sketch with Harpo Marx; spots with William Holden and Danny Kaye; and tributes to William Frawley and Gale Gordon.

In closing, James Stewart gives Lucy a special award.

An essential classic
Format: Paperback
The book has a scathing view of nobility and the upper class, with the regular people just a part of the scenery, so an allegory that has aged well and applies to modern times. I think it's an essential read to anyone who enjoys literature, as it can be argued that it's the genesis of many themes in modern stories.

Not bad, but still had flaws
Format: Paperback
While the novel was great in a way, I felt that it was outdated to me. It was written in the time that anti-heros were poorly made and if the creator of Reynard was aiming for Anti-hero when developing Reynard, he missed and hit sociopath instad. The pictures in the books are also outdated and laughable in our times. Reynard looks more like a shaved dog on the cover, I had a hard time identifying Noble the lion in his photos, ect. and the ending did`nt seem fullfilling though I felt a kick of excitment a few times.

Nice translation
Format: Paperback
It is not easy to translate poetry into poetry. It's bad enough simply trying to translate to prose. Ms. Terry does an excellent job. I read Le Roman de Renart in French while I was studying in France. Years later, I came across this translation. It is fascinating the way the original storytellers portrayed Renart. He is a completely hateful creature. Yet reading about him is fun. It's similar to how I feel about stories of Loki or Coyote. Renart is closer to Loki than to Coyote, despite the canine ancestry. He is more than simply a trickster: he is malevolent. If you have an interest in ancient folktales, you mustn't miss the story of Renart. This translation is different from any other I've read. The introduction gives a good perspective on the times when the stories were hatched.

Pretty good translation into English. Far from a complete collection, but certainly a good foundation.
