Take your knitting skills to the next level this summer with our technique-focused workshop series! Each session is a deep dive into a different aspect of intermediate knitting, designed to expand your skills, spark creativity, and build confidence. All sessions are 4 1/2 hours long and include a chill 30-minute snack break. Students will leave each class with swatches and new techniques to use in future projects.

Students should already know knitting basics.

What to bring (all sessions):

  • Worsted weight yarn (TWO colors — perfect for stash-busting!)
  • Circular needles or DPNs (US 7 or US 8)
  • Supplies are also available in-store with a 20% class discount

Session 1: Playing with Color

Sunday, June 14th 11:00am – 3:30pm

Ready to add some color to your knitting? In this session, you’ll explore two colorwork techniques that may seem scary, but we promise you can handle them! We’ll cover the fundamentals of stranded colorwork and introduce the squishy, reversible magic of two-color brioche.

You’ll learn:

  • How to manage two yarns at once
  • Stranded colorwork basics (tension, floats, color dominance)
  • Intro to two-color brioche knitting
  • Reading simple colorwork charts

By the end, you’ll have colorful swatches and the confidence to start incorporating bold color techniques into your knitting.

Session 2: Playing with Shaping

Saturday, August 8th 11:00am – 3:30pm

Ever wonder how knitting takes shape? This session is all about the “why” and “how” behind increases and decreases.

You’ll learn:

  • A variety of increase and decrease methods
  • When and why to use different techniques
  • How placement affects the look and structure of your knitting
  • Tips for clean, polished shaping

You’ll leave with swatches that show how shaping works—and how to use it intentionally in your own designs.

Session 3: Playing with Texture

Saturday, September 26th 11:00am – 3:30pm

Texture is where knitting really comes to life! In this session we'll explore two techniques that look intricate but are totally within your reach, and we will hold your hand each step of the way!

You’ll learn:

  • Lace basics (yarn overs, decreases, and pattern flow)
  • How to read lace and cable charts
  • Intro to cable knitting (with or without a cable needle)
  • Creating depth and texture in your fabric

You’ll head home with textured swatches

Come for one session or take all three to build a well-rounded skill set. Either way, you’ll leave inspired, energized, and ready to play with your knitting in new ways!

Not sure it's pure Batana oil
I'm not a botanical expert, so I may be totally wrong about this, but based on the ingredients, I don't think this is pure Batana Oil. The ingredient list (typos included) reads: "Elaeis Oleifera Kernel Oil, Babassuamide DEA, AscorbicAcid, Phytosterols, Carotenoids, Vitamins c." The last 4 ingredients might just be components of the oil itself, rather than additives. But Elaeis Oleifera (American Palm) Kernel Oil is Batana oil. But Babassuamide DEA is an oil that comes from the kernels of the babassu palm, not the American palm. Sure, it's still "palm kernel oil", but if I wanted just any ol' palm kernel oil, then I'd use some out of the cooking oil bottle in the kitchen and save myself a buck. I wanted 100% Pure Batana oil. I also can't figure out why the description talks about it containing Vitamin E, when that isn't listed as an ingredient. If it's been added, then it definitely needs to be listed on the package. If it's a natural chemical part of the oil itself, and the same is true of the Vitamin C listed, then why not list both separately? Or is the Vitamin C listed because it's been added despite them saying it's pure Batana oil? I don't know. So if you just want some kind of palm kernel oil to moisturize your hair, and you're not particular about whether or not it's really pure Batana oil, then this might be the oil for you. But, if you're a stickler for purity, maybe not. And there are lots of cheaper Batana-type palm oils out there that aren't true Batana, if price is more important to you than purity.
