This classic protector offering cup set, known as a Serkyem, is crafted from white bronze and features a shining band design along the edges and stand. Its elegant white bronze finish resembles the traditional coppersmith artistry of Derge, Kham, a renowned region in Tibet known for its exquisite metalwork.
The Serkyem offering, also called a Dharmapala offering, is an essential ritual item used to make offerings to protector deities and guardians. This set consists of two pieces—a chalice and a basin—designed to allow the offering to overflow as a gesture of devotion. Traditionally, it is filled with tea, wine, or other tsok substances and presented to Dharma Protectors to invoke their continued blessings, protection, and support in the propagation of the Dharma.
In Tibetan, "ser" means gold, and "kyem" means drink, symbolizing the offering of precious sustenance to the sacred beings.
