Stop The World / Tony + Bonus Tracks - Anthony Newley 180gram Vinyl. 180g vinyl. Anthony Newley had many talents. The English actor, singer and songwriter was successful as rock and roller, on stage and on screen. As a musician, he reached a dozen placements in the top 40 of the UK singles charts between 1959 and 1962, including No. 1 hits. With his partner Leslie Bricusse, Newley wrote "Feeling Good" (the song was made famous by Nina Simone and was covered by many well-known artists) and in 1964 the title song for the film Goldfinger (alongside John Barry). Bricusse and Newley were nominated for the Academy Award (Best Soundtrack, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, 1971). Newley starred in over 25 films, acted in countless recordings, many TV shows and musicals such as Dr. Dolittle and The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd with. Newley wrote the musical Stop the World - I Want to Get Off with Bricusse. He also directed and starred the show, which earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. The successful musical ran for 15 months in London and was then performed 551 times on Broadway. This is the Broadway cast album with bonus tracks from the London cast and stayed in the American album charts for 76 weeks, peaking at number 3. The second part of this release consists of Newley's LP "Tony" (1961 number five of the UK album charts) and bonus tracks from Love Is a Now and Then Thing. "Stop the World" and "Tony" are just two of the milestones in Newley's remarkable career that spanned over fifty years. He also directed and starred the show, which earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. A natural storyteller
Format: Paperback
Three middle-aged women hike the mighty John Muir Trail, the crown jewel of California that covers over 200 miles of steep and rocky terrain in the Sierra. It was a big deal.
The 3-week wilderness trip extended over multiple, high-elevation passes, crossed roaring water and rose to the summit of Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous US at 14, 505 feet.
Griffin’s storytelling comes naturally and with ease. This inspirational, follow-your-dreams story is easy to feel surrounded by because of Griffin’s vivid writing. Luscious accounts of landscapes, macro details of the natural world and the knee-knocking, quad-stabbing terrain puts you, the reader, right there.
Conversely, the detailed prose is a huge liability in the pacing of this book. Mundane details are redundant as the book slogs on. Long descriptions overtake the read and the focus stays superficial. I would have liked much more character development, and better cadence and dialogue.

My Favorite Camino Read To Date
Format: Kindle
I have read dozens of Camino retellings. This, by Brad Chermside, is my most enjoyed. Brad is an excellent writer with no fear of exposing his insecurities and weaknesses, physical or social. His many metaphors are original and laugh-out-loud funny. He used several interesting writing techniques to keep me in suspense. The most effective being, from the start of the narrative, finding out if when he met the never met mystery woman, who was the catalyst for him beginning his journey, and he would click. It was eventually answered. Highly recommend the book. Hat's off to Mr Chermside on an excellent read.

Camino memories relived
Format: Paperback
I returned from my first Camino trip and I was wanting to stay in touch with everything related to the Camino - the friends I made there, movies on YouTube, and podcasts. It was from the podcast that I learned about Brad. He has been a constant companion to me, as I went through my own Camino 'withdrawl.' Luckily for me, after a couple of weeks from been back from the Camino, I am already able to schedule my next one. Brad's book brought back all the memories, and he put into great narrative and humor all the amazing and magical things that happen during the Camino, including also the challenges, the crying and the laughing. I am very grateful for this book.
