Using the same inductive charging connector that comes with the Apple Watch, you've got the freedom to charge in two different positions - either in a flat position with the strap open or on it's side, so you can still see the time and any notifications. When charging, your Apple Watch automatically goes into nightstand mode, so you can use it in place of an alarm clock at night.
