In between hed gone to Russia as a young communist in 1931, become London Organiser for the Young Communist League in the late 30s, been a union organiser in his various cabinet making and carpentry jobs, and worked in shipbuilding during the war, as well as being in the ARP and helping to organise the workers making the Mulberry Harbours for the D Day landings

In between heÕd gone to Russia as a young communist in 1931, become London Organiser for the Young Communist League in the late 30s, been a union organiser in his various cabinet making and carpentry jobs, and worked in shipbuilding during the war, as well as being in the ARP and helping to organise the workers making the Mulberry Harbours for the D-Day landings of 1944.
He was chair of Hackney Trades Council for many years, and when he retired to live in Haringey was co-opted as pensionersÕ representative on the council. He marched for many causes, some won, some lost. This is his political story, in his own words.
