What made me decide to write a book on the era of my own life story? l donÕt entirely know. However, I feel that I have experienced so much in my life. The First World War ended in 1918 and we thought the killing was over Ð but when one thinks about it, the slaughter still carries on. Young people today might ask whether the twenties and thirties were really as IÕm going to describe them. They can take it from me: they were.
