Oxalis Triangularis – A Unique Purple Shamrock That Moves with Light

The Oxalis triangularis, or Purple Shamrock, is a fascinating plant with delicate, vibrant purple leaves that open during the day and close at night in response to light changes. These plants grow from small underground corms and may enter dormancy in colder months before re-sprouting when warmer weather returns.

Important Note About Shipping & Dormancy

Oxalis triangularis has fragile foliage that may experience stress during transit. If your plant loses its leaves upon arrival, don’t worry! The corms are still healthy, and new growth will quickly emerge once the plant is settled in its new environment.

Care Guidelines

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can also be grown in a shaded outdoor spot.
  • Watering: Keep soil partially moist, allowing it to dry slightly between waterings—avoid letting it dry out completely.
  • Dormancy: When grown indoors, dormancy is less likely. If it does go dormant, reduce watering and wait for regrowth in spring.
  • Potting & Growth: Grows best in well-draining soil and thrives in both indoor and outdoor conditions.

What to Expect

The plant pictured is a representation of the Oxalis triangularis you will receive. A pen is included in the third photo for scale. Natural variations in size and fullness may occur.

A Challenge For All Liberals
Format: Paperback
I thought the book was well-written, impeccably sourced, wide-ranging, and with a thesis that can't help but make you think. Well worth your time.

The history is unpleasant and therefore worth knowing.
It's a wonderfully enlightening history of how European explorers visited, settled in, conquered, and exploited other continents with unparalleled cruelty in the name of power, greed, and their "loving" religion that brought them misery, exploitation and, all too often, abject slavery.

Wonderful History Lessons
I ordered this book to use for a college paper I was writing and found it fascinating. I enjoyed the content and learned much from it. The history is written in a manner that for those people that either don't read much or don't like to read (yes, there are a few people out there), it will draw you in and make you question the history lessons we suffered through in high school.
