The Libec DC-F12 is a specialized, high-performance data connection cable engineered to link the Libec FD-1 Focus Demand controller directly to Fujinon 12-pin portable broadcast lenses. It serves as an essential electronic pass-through, giving studio and remote field operators smooth, granular manual control over a lens's internal focus servo motors.

Core Features & Practical Utility

  • Direct Focus Servo Interface: This cable features a circular 12-pin male connector on the lens side and a dedicated 6-pin push-pull male connector on the focus demand side. It translates rotation inputs from the FD-1 wheel directly into precision focal adjustments without any signal dead zones.

  • Lossless Voltage Shielding: Built with internal multi-strand copper lines insulated by a robust outer jacket, the cable prevents electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency (RF) clean-signal degradation when routed alongside high-power studio camera cables or studio lighting arrays.

  • Balanced 39.4-Inch Operational Sweep: Measuring exactly 39.4 inches (1 meter) in length, the line offers enough slack to route neatly down the tripod's panning handle without getting taut or binding during steep vertical tilts or fast panoramic camera pans.

Operational System Tips for the DC-F12:

💡 The Alignment Guide Key: The 12-pin circular connector on the Fujinon side utilizes a tiny structural guide notch inside its metal barrel. When rigging the camera in low-light studio setups, do not force or twist the outer barrel blindly into the lens servo box. Align the inner key notch first, push the connector straight in, and then spin the threaded locking collar to secure the data link completely. This protects the delicate matching pin needles inside the lens housing from bending.

  • Isolating Rotation Direction: If an operator prefers the focus wheel to run clockwise for infinity rather than counter-clockwise, do not unplug or twist the DC-F12 cable. Simply toggle the physical Direction Reverse Switch located on the outer side chassis of the attached FD-1 focus demand housing to flip the electronic signaling layout instantly.

Covers lots of important topics
Format: Kindle
12 Universal Skills by Peter Scheele and Nina Bech-Andersen is one of those books that comes across as something that should be taught in a college level classroom. If I was going to rename the book, I would call it How to Work With People. This is a general skill that we never really learn much about, but so much of our lives both professionally and personally are based around this idea. Some of the topics included here are how to solve conflicts with others, how to manage your time, and how to work as part of a team. These are skills that we are expected to practice as we make our way through school, but are never truly taught to us making them areas of weakness that need to be addressed. If you are starting a career, just getting out of school, or are simply looking for ways to improve yourself then this is a a great read for you.
