Reverence is an ancient virtue that survives among us in half-forgotten patterns of civility and moments of inarticulate awe. Reverence gives meaning to much that we do, yet the word has almost passed out of our vocabulary. Reverence, says philosopher and classicist Paul Woodruff, begins in an understanding of human limitations. From this grows the capacity to be in awe of whatever we believe lies outside our control -- God, truth, justice, nature, even death. It is a quality of character that is especially important in leadership and in teaching, although it figures in virtually every human relationship. It transcends religious boundaries and can be found outside religion altogether. Woodruff draws on thinking about this lost virtue in ancient Greek and Chinese traditions and applies lessons from these highly reverent cultures to today's world. The book covers reverence in a variety of contexts -- the arts, leadership, teaching, warfare, and the home -- and shows how essential a quality it is to a well-functioning society. First published by Oxford University Press in 2001, this new edition of Reverence is revised and expanded. It contains a foreword by Betty Sue Flowers, Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin, a new preface, two new chapters -- one on the sacred and one on compassion -- and an epilogue focused on renewing reverence in our own lives.Binding Type: Paperback

For the Back Pocket Carrier out there....

I think this wallet is awesome! I've been carrying for about a week and it is working out great. I usually don't carry cash but for the last week, I've actually had a little cash on me. Instead of using the clip on the back (that clip is pretty tight and I don't like the look of having cash there), I just put is under the ID flap and the magnetic closure holds it in place. I love the color, the trigger works great, and the cards are held securely even when it isn't completely full. I also like the size. It requires me to carry less, which is something I need. (I realized two weeks ago that I had been carrying an old debit card in my old wallet around that had expired in 2023 and it turned out that I didn't have an account at that bank! hahahahahaha. I must be getting old.).
This is important to me: I carry a wallet in my back pocket. I always have and that is what is comfortable to me. Front pocket carry feels weird to me. I've been carrying this wallet in my back pocket and sitting on it with no issues. I'm a big guy (300 lbs) and, so far, it's held up great. In all honesty, I do take it out of my pocket and put it in my console when I drive, but that's it. Everywhere else I go, and sit, it stays in my back pocket. I know it's only been a week, but I'm glad to see that I haven't crushed it, or deformed it, or anything.
Ultimately, it's been great and I'm glad I got this one.

Feel secure with your cards and money!

This is a cool wallet. My previous wallet didn't protect my cards and as a result they would get damaged. This wallet is like bullet proof and fits all of my id and credit cards perfectly. I really like the magnetic fold which is very secure, but the most comforting thing about this design is that my cards cannot be scanned. Very secure. Highly recommend Bulliant wallets!
