After his plane was shot down, he spent nine months in a German POW camp, and two months on the infamous Black March near the end of the war. This kindly, self-effacing man then went on with his life, sharing with other members of the "Greatest Generation" such experiences as being the first in his family to go to college, thanks to the G.I. Bill, marriage, children, divorce, remarriage, and a lifelong job with a major corporation. In Camp's case it was one that built the creatures he loved: airplanes.
