As the flame heats the center, a small amount of wax is added to the recess at the end of each strip. The melting of the wax accurately reflects the heat-conducting capabilities of each metal, clearly labeled with their corresponding initials.
Add a small pea-sized wax particle into the depressions on the outer tip of each of the 4 metal strips. Heat the center of the ring evenly using a Bunsen burner, where the points of the four strips meet. Compare the heat conductivity of each metal strip by observing the melting of the wax particles.
