About the Author
Joy Winkie Viola obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Minnesota’s School of Journalism. Upon graduating, she moved to Boston where she began a 33-year career at Northeastern University in a variety of writing positions, including seven years as the senior editor of the ten-volume International Encyclopedia of Higher Education compiled there. She also authored three books, the story of one, based in Saudi Arabia, is detailed in Chapter 4 of this book. She met her chemistry professor husband, Alfred, at Northeastern, and together they began a life-long hobby of international travel, nature photography, and birding with each having over 2,300 species on their respective birder's Life List. Devoted to golden retrievers since childhood, she has raised nearly $4 million for Golden Retriever Rescue and canine cancer research, in recognition of which she received the Verne Bower Humanitarian Award from the Golden Retriever Club of America. She lives in Wayland, MA with her golden retriever, Apollo, and Anna, part black Labrador and part pure mischief!

Great Start to a new Series
Format: Kindle
I whipped right through book #1, and definitely finished the book eager for more. The main and supporting characters are all intriguing and well fleshed out. The humor, romance and action are all really well balanced. The one challenge I did feel the middle dragged a bit, a little repetitive with lots of wanting and talking about things but nothing happened until the end basically, but either way, I really enjoyed it!

One of the best debut novels I’ve read!

First, congratulations to Ella Dawes on an amazing book! You knocked it out of the park!
If you are looking for an action packed, 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️ story, this is the book for you.
Darius 🤤, the surly captain of the guard and an alpha at heart is to die for, battle scars and traumatic past and all.
Lena, is the fierce and strong FMC we all want to be. She’s string willed, without the needless stubbornness.
Fate has brought them together, whether they want things this way or not. The chemistry burning between Lena and Darius is undeniable, but can they set their differences aside and trust each other long enough to work together?
We’ve established the main characters are phenomenal but can we focus on the side characters for a bit? Griffin and Kace were so well written. I felt ai could be friends with them in real life.
The story is well written, the pacing was phenomenal and at times my heart hurt for the characters as if I knew them. This author just getting started guys, I cannot wait to see where she goes from here and how she continues to develop this world.

I really enjoyed this audio book. Lead male character was a little too abusive for my liking, and that made me not root for the love match. But the story was interesting, and the voice actors did an amazing job.

Right from the start, I was drawn in by the prologue!!!

Right from the start, I was drawn in by the prologue!!!
I’m a big fan of “touch her, and you die” vibes, but I mean, what’s also not to love about a unique Arthurian retelling with gender twists, a treacherous royal court, a dangerous quest, magical Fae & mystical monsters, entwined with a bit of spice!
Morgan, Princess of Pendrath and true heir to the throne has spent most of her life dimming her light to feel safe and to make others comfortable. She is treated as an outcast in the court and repressed by her family due to the blood of the Fae within her and forced to join the Temple of the Three as a priestess in training to one day replace Merlin.
Her brother, King Arthur, who reminds me of Joffrey from Game of Thrones, later tells her that he has other plans and offers her a choice of the Temple or to marry her off for political gain, unless… that is, she can journey through the great unknown and return with a long-lost fae weapon with enchanted powers known as Excalibur.
Her quest begins with a roguish crew that includes the mysterious, arrogant, and heart-tuggingly handsome Captain of the Royal Guard, Kairos Draven, whom she can’t decide if she wants to stab or indulge in pleasure with.
Along the way are plenty of surprises, mystical creatures, and betrayal, all while Morgan uncovers more of the truth about herself and who she can trust.
This book had intriguing storylines and lovable characters that kept me turning pages and wanting more. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds and comes together in book 2, Court of Claws, which I just started reading!!
