 He is known for his bright, colourful paintings and prints of subjects ranging from celebrities including Marilyn Monroe and Mohammed Ali, to everyday products such as cans of soup and Brillo pads. 

Warhol said, “Pop art is about liking things,” and claimed that he ate Campbell's soup every day for twenty years. For him, it was the quintessential American product: he marvelled that the soup, like Coca-Cola, always tasted the same, whether consumed by prince or pauper.

 So in searching for his next subject for a painting, a friend’s suggested that he paint something everybody recognised, "like Campbell’s Soup", which gave Warhol his subject
