Not only do the teeth look and feel great when they are clean, having a clean gum line is essential to good health, but it can be difficult to achieve with commercial products, some of which are extremely toxic for the gums, body and environment. The health and cleanliness of the whole of the oral cavity can be optimized using totally natural products which are designed to be plastic free.

The Benefits of Using a Natural Bristle Toothbrush

The traditional bristle toothbrush has a far superior cleaning action to normal nylon bristles. The bristles exert more friction than nylon bristles and the natural boar bristles seem to 'push, pull and sweep' as you use them. The bristles on the brush are gentle on the enamel and soft enough to clean the gums, tongue and mouth tissue. The brush works very well with the green clay toothpaste. At the end of its use life the brush and bristles will biodegrade unlike plastic toothbrushes which are of composite materials.

The Benefits of Using Oak Bark Powder

With its mild taste, pleasant consistency, oak bark powder is my go-to tooth powder. It keeps the teeth clean and helps to prevent stains, keeps the gum tissue clean, healthy and firm.  It helps to achieve a balanced even tone of the enamel which makes the teeth feel smooth and look well cared for. After using the oak bark powder daily for 5 months, I got my lowest plaque score ever - just 2%. With the oak bark powder, my teeth are staying cleaner than ever before.

The Benefits of Using Activated Charcoal Powder

Activated charcoal is used to clean and whiten the teeth and removed staining caused by foods, smoking, vaping and the use of chemical mouthwashes.  Due to is high adsorptive properties, charcoal leave the breath fresh and the teeth feeling clean. The powder can be used as dry toothpaste, made into a wet toothpaste or used as a mouth wash.

The Benefits of Walnut Bark Powder

A tradition remedy to strengthen the gums and whiten the teeth.

The Benefits of Green Clay

To clean the teeth, help detox the gums (important if you have fillings). Our clay has been ultra-ventilated, which mean, once it is milled, it is air separated, to remove micas and other heavy particles. The resulting clay is pure and of a medium abrasivity.

The Benefits of Using Tree Root Toothbrushes

These tree roots (Salvadora persica), also know as miswak, siwak, peelu, and arak  are virtually a tooth care kit within a kit as the stick transforms into a toothbrush and gum line cleaner while the sap in the stick becomes enamel strengthening toothpaste and mouthwash.

Olive Sticks

We have also added our popular Olive Tree Sticks to our oral hygiene kits, as we'd like you to try these too. The sap of these sticks is proven to kill damaging bacteria in the gum line and these sticks have been used safely for thousands of years. As an alternative to conventional toothpaste, the tree root toothbrush sticks can replace toothbrushes, toothpaste, and mouth wash. These sticks are ideal to use when you are on the move through the day, or when you are relaxing during the day or evening.

The Benefits of Silk Floss

Made just from hand spun silk and coated with plant wax from the candelilla tree leaves and with a slight mint taste, this floss is strong and easy to hold. It really seems to 'grab' the debris and biofilm between the teeth. It is amazing to find a floss which is toxin free and which will biodegrade in 2-3 months after use. Normal floss is coated with very toxic chemicals which cause harm to the health and the environment. Floss in the normal way. We also supply spools of silk floss or vegan charcoal bamboo floss for refilling the glass vial.

How to Use Dental Floss

Wrap the floss around the forefingers. Introduce the floss into the interspace between two teeth. Keeping the floss taught, gently slide the floss up and down until it feels and sounds clean. Keeping the floss taught, slightly bend it around each tooth, moving the floss to and fro. Move on to the next interspace. Don't forget to get right behind the back molars. If possible compost the used floss. Please don't flush floss down the toilet.

How to Use the Natural Bristle Toothbrush

Wet the bristles. Add any of the tree based tooth powder (oak, walnut, charcoal) or clay, or a mixture of any of them. Brush the teeth, gum line, tongue, the inside of the cheeks and the palate. Rinse the mouth Clean the toothbrush and allow it to dry. To get the longest use life from the bristle head, if the brush doesn't get a chance to dry between uses, then it is best to buy one or two extra wooden toothbrushes. Please note the charcoal with stain the bristles!

How to Use the Oak Bark Powder and Walnut Bark Powder

Wet the toothbrush, shake drip from drips and simply dip it into the jar. Load the toothbrush with oak bark powder. After use rinse well.

How to use Activated Charcoal Powder as Tooth Powder

The powder can be used dry, mixed in with toothpaste or coconut oil, or made into a mouth wash in this proportion: 1 part of powder to 8 parts of pre boiled water.

How to Use the Green Clay Powder

Dip a damp toothbrush into the powder and use.
Or add a little water to a small amount of clay to create a toothpaste - make up very small quantities so it is fresh every few days and keep it covered in between uses so it doesn't dry out and harden.
Or make into a mouthwash, using 1 teaspoon of clay powder in a glass of water.
Or make a paste and the equivalent of a teaspoon to the gum next to problematic teeth This can be left in the mouth for a few hours. After use remove any remaining clay and rinse the mouth with warm water.

How to Use the Toothbrush Stick to Brush the Teeth & Gum Line

Open the packet and take the end of the stick over the tooth surface and gnaw on the end of the stick gently. Rinse the stick after use and place it back in its packet. After a few uses, bristles will form. Now you can use the use the stick in the same way as a toothbrush. The sap mixed with saliva acts as a mineralizing toothpaste and they are great for treating sensitive teeth and for people with thin enamel.

Once the bristles are just the right length, gently bite the stick to release some more sap and use the bristles to clean along the gum line. Trim the bristles once a day or when they get to long with a pair of scissors. Rinse the stick after use and return it to the packet.

How to Make and Use Mouth Wash with the Toothbrush Stick

Stand a fresh toothbrush stick in a glass with a few centimetres of water Let it stand for 2 hours. Remove the stick and return it to its packet. Your mouth wash is ready. Take small sips of toothbrush stick mouthwash and swirl all around the mouth and suck the liquid between the teeth. Spit out and repeat until the mouth is super fresh and clean.

FAQs

Will I need any other tooth care products?

If your dentist or hygienist has recommended using inter-dental brushes, then do use them. We wet the inter-dental brush and then dip it in a tiny portion of clay powder. We think that it gives better cleaning power and keep the inter-dental brush more hygienic. Another technique is to apply a tiny amount of hemp oil soap to the interdental brush - It really helps if the interdental spaces are small of where the gums are swollen. Rinse the mouth after using the interdental brush and wash the brush. We don't sell inter-dental brushes. Get them from your dentist who will be able to advise you on the different sizes which are best for you.

We also use and sell the Soladey-3 light activated ionic toothbrushes (on sale at the moment) which can be used without toothpaste and the latest model of ionic toothbrush, the Soladey 5. These toothbrushes contain a light sensitive panel instead of a battery and send a charge out of the bristles which electronically releases the plaque from the teeth. The more advanced sonic ionic Soladey Rhythm 2 also oscillates at 22,000 revolutions per seconds and it is marvellous for caring for troublesome gums.

What toxins are in normal floss?

Hmmm, you probably would rather not know.  As there is very little ingredient information on a typical floss packaging, you might think that there wasn't much to it. However, all commercial floss is made from either nylon or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE or Teflon) may contain traces of formaldahyde chloroform, limonene, pentene and terpineols from the manufacturing process. Then the nylon filaments are then coated with non stick chemicals such as perfluoroctanoic acid a class of PFCs which cause thyroid problems, cancer, infertility, birth defects, weakened immunity etc. Many other ingredients - fluoride salts, calcium bromide, bleaches, antibiotics, artificial flavours etc. can be added, but large manufacturers do not disclose them on the label as the combinations are patented. Nearly all of the ingredients are derived from petro-chemicals, they are resistant to biodegrading and they bioaccumulate in our bodies, the soil and the food chain. Plus the nylon floss doesn't biodegrade and entraps animals or gets eaten by animals. Normal floss, plus it's plastic packaging is an environmental hazerd.

What toxins are in normal toothpaste?

Sodium fluoride and the other types of commercial fluoride is derived from the smoke stacks of aluminium processing plants and as a by product of the pesticide industry; SLS (industrial soap) which may harm the gum tissues and cause mouth cancer and mouth ulcers. It is a known carcinogen; Propylene Glycol which coats the teeth, making them feel really smooth and clean, yet which prevents remineralization;  Saccharin a petroleum biproduct;  Aspartame which is used to manufacture formaldahyde, bleaching agents which harm the enamel, artificial flavours, colours and many toxic inadequately tested chemicals which can inflame the gums and destroy gut bacteria. All of these chemicals are linked to cancer and other health issues. The ultra strong plastic packaging is terrible too - it takes 500 years for a plastic toothpaste tube to break down - and then only into polluting micro-plastics. It is worth getting used to the plastic free alternatives!

However, if your dentist recommends using fluoridated toothpaste, please accept their suggestion - it can help cut down on staining, tartar adhesion and to protect, enamel dentine and exposed roots. Some manufacturers produce fluoridated toothpaste in a metal tube which is less harmful to the environment.

You can also mix normal toothpaste with our dental powders to enhance the action.

Good sturdy balls
Size: Medium (2.5"), Style: Fetch Pack 2
My dogs love balls! Unfortunately, they tend to chew them up very quickly. My Belgium Malinois chews on this all the time, and it has held up pretty well. Good option for chewers

Fetch Perfection
Size: Medium (2.5"), Style: Fetch Pack 2
If you’re anything like me, fetch is the ultimate game with your furry companion. The Chuckit! Dog Fetch Ball Medley has taken our playtime to the next level with its variety and durability. This 3-pack of medium-sized, ultra-rugged balls is perfect for endless games of fetch without worrying about wear and tear. I love how each ball has a unique texture and color, keeping my dog engaged and excited every time. The medium size is just right for energetic dogs, allowing for long throws and big leaps. Plus, the rugged design means these balls can withstand even the most enthusiastic chewers and rough play sessions, making them a great investment for active pets. However, the vibrant colors can sometimes make them easy to lose in green grass or sandy beaches, but a good game of hide-and-seek with your dog is a small price to pay for such fantastic fetch balls. Additionally, while they’re durable, no ball is completely indestructible, so occasional replacements might be necessary for the most aggressive players. Overall, the Chuckit! Dog Fetch Ball Medley is a must-have for any dog owner looking to enhance their playtime. They’re fun, durable, and keep both you and your dog entertained for hours. A solid 5-star rating for their quality and variety, with a tiny star lost to their occasionally elusive colors.

great ball!
Size: Medium (2.5"), Style: Fetch Pack 2
My pitbull LOVES these. She is a power chewer and tough on balls and toys and tends to go through them insanely quick. She is still on her first ball out of this pack and its been at least two months. It is a little small for her mouth but she doesn’t seem to mind, as it has quickly become one of her favorites. Not a loud ball and it doesn’t usually make that wet chewy noise when shes going to town on it which is huge for me😂😂 Safe for my pittie so i’d imagine a smaller dog would be just fine.

Border Collie Approved: Easy to Clean, Durable, and Great Bounce
Size: Medium (2.5"), Style: Fetch Pack 2
These are the best balls out there for dogs. These fit great in the chuck-it ball launcher, which we need to wear out my border collie. They fit her mouth properly and, most importantly, do not absorb all the spit or water after a good rain. They are quick to clean off and have good weight so you can let them fly! Furthermore, they bounce well, which is perfect for my dog that likes to catch them on a bounce. The ball is a strong rubber, so should not be easy to chew up. I've used these for years, and the only time I've had to replace them is when one gets lost in the hay field. I highly suggest these as replacements for the common tennis balls.
