Zum ersten Mal seit der Markteinführung des Spiels können die Spieler oder "Illumineers" ihre Charaktere an Orte aus beliebten Disney-Geschichten schimmern lassen, wie z. B. Motonui aus Disneys Moana oder den Jolly Roger aus Disneys Peter Pan. Orte sind ein neuer Kartentyp, der neue Strategien eröffnet - einige geben Boni, wenn Charaktere sie besuchen, während andere Vorteile bieten, nur weil sie im Spiel sind. Diese neuen Ortskarten gehören zu den mehr als 200 völlig neuen Karten, die mit Into the Inklands auf den Markt kommen. Dieses neue Set führt auch zusätzliche Erzählungen zwischen den Karten ein, da sich die Geschichten durch Zitate und beschreibenden Text (Flavor Text) entfalten, wodurch die Spieler noch mehr Verbindungen zwischen den Karten entdecken können.
