Er zählt zu den drei großen, klassischen Flieger-Assen der franko-belgischen Comics: Major Dan Cooper, Testpilot der Royal Canadian Air Force. In seiner fast vierzigjährigen Laufbahn hat er nahezu alles geflogen, was sich länger als drei Sekunden in der Luft halten kann. Und er hat Abenteuer nicht nur überall auf der Welt, sondern sogar darüber hinaus im Weltall erlebt - im Kampf mit Verbrechern, Verrätern, aber auch den Tücken der Technik. Dies ist das Verdienst vor allem eines Mannes: Albert Weinberg (1922-2011). Ende 1954 brachte er den Major und Luftfahrtingenieur zum ersten Mal an den Start, und bis 1992 sorgte er nicht nur für die sorgfältigen, technisch anspruchsvollen Zeichnungen, sondern er hat auch (fast) alle der spannenden Storys selber geschrieben. Lediglich bei drei von insgesamt 41 Episoden stieg Jean-Michel Charlier mit ins Comic-Cockpit, der ansonsten für die Fliegerkonkurrenten Buck Danny und Michel Tanguy zuständig war. Auch in Deutschland waren die Abenteuer von Dan Cooper stets beliebt und wurden schon seit 1966 vielfach veröffentlicht, u. a. in »MV-Comix«, natürlich in »Zack«, bei Bastei etc. - woran es bislang allerdings mangelte, war eine übersichtliche, umfassende Edition all seiner Alben. Das wird nun mit der »Dan-Cooper-Gesamtausgabe« endlich nachgeholt, natürlich ergänzt um einige Kurzgeschichten, zusätzliche Informationen und Hintergrundmaterial - sowie einige Storys in deutscher Album-Erstveröffentlichung! Wenn das für Freunde des gediegenen Flieger-Comics kein Grund zum Abheben ist!
