Versammelt sind rund achtzig Gemälde und Zeichnungen aus privaten und öffentlichen Sammlungen in Europa und den USA, darunter einige neue, bisher nicht veröffentlichte Werke. Yiadom-Boakyes zentrales Thema ist der Mensch: Ihre mit Öl oder Kohle und Pastellstift gemalten Frauen und Männer erscheinen wie Porträts, sind aber tatsächlich Fiktionen. Immer sind es Schwarze – womit die Malerin schlaglichtartig den Blick darauf lenkt, dass diese in der europäischen Kunstgeschichte weitgehend fehlen. Neben den malerischen Arbeiten enthält der Katalog auch Texte der Künstlerin. Begleitende Essays von Andrea Schlieker, Isabella Maidment sowie der amerikanischen Poetin Elizabeth Alexander erläutern Yiadom-Boakyes beeindruckendes Schaffen der letzten zwanzig Jahre.LYNETTE YIADOM-BOAKYE (*1977, London) ist eine britische Künstlerin und Autorin, die für ihre expressiven Porträts fiktiver Charaktere weltbekannt ist. 2013 nominiert für den Turner-Prize, zahlreiche internationale Ausstellungsteilnahmen.

These are very thick pillows.

Exactly as advertised. They are very firm and very thick. They're too thick for me to be able to use as bed pillows. However, they seem to work pretty well as cushions in my papasan chair on top of its normal cushion also work very well as decorative pillows.
I'm still giving them four stars because they're exactly as advertised and they seem well made. My only complaint is that they're just too thick. And that's definitely not the fault of the pillows or the pillow maker.
